Horse Holiday
Last month saw the arrival of 7 guests and their horses for our first ever horse holiday hosted at Woolley Park. Guests travelled from across England in all types of vehicle, including a helicopter, to enjoy three luxurious nights in the main house with all their needs catered for by Kirsten, Rhydian and Sarah. Within an hour of arriving the horses had been settled into their fields and the guests were shown to their bedrooms then back downstairs where the drinks flowed and delicious food enjoyed.
The next two days involved the riders and horses hacking all day across the beautiful local countryside with Rose Cameron, who had organised the holiday, at the helm to ensure they didn’t get lost. Both lunchtimes Kirsten went and met the group at pre-arranged locations for a well-earned lunch for the riders and rest stop for the horses. The second day saw some tired and aching muscles coming back in the evening but a session with a local masseuse quickly sorted that out.
Finally, a shorter ride in the morning of the third day before lunch meant everyone said goodbye to their newly made friends and departed early afternoon to avoid the traffic.
It was wonderful to have the house full again, after it being so empty during the pandemic. Despite never meeting each other before, the group of riders enjoyed each other’s company and there was a fantastic atmosphere and energy across the park. We were extremely lucky with the weather meaning even the swimming pool was put to good use. Lovely feedback, comments and thank you cards came through after the event and nearly every card mentioned Sarah’s wonderful cooking, something the staff have known for a long time but has been our best kept secret due to the pandemic.
We look forward to hosting another holiday in September.
